Hector's combat position is Cavalry, but four of his eight skills only buff Archer squads. 🏹
Stand him in the Cavalry slot and he holds it fine, yet the formation skills doing the heavy lifting are all written for Archers.
Archers Get The Formation
Archer Defensive Formation II and Archer Offensive Formation II raise Archer Resistance and Might for troops in his squad. Archer Awakened combines both into a stronger version, adds an Archer damage bonus, and boosts his own Dictator passive on the side. Discipline - Archers then adds one more Might increase across every Archer squad in his legion. None of these four ever mention Cavalry, the troop type tied to his own slot.
His Kit Skips Archers
Thick Wall of Troy, Apollo's Judgment, and Underworld Spear don't care what troop type is nearby at all. Thick Wall of Troy grants his whole side an immunity window and sets up his Chained Fate bonus the moment he survives a fatal hit. Apollo's Judgment hits every enemy squad with skill damage and chips away at their Fatal Blow resistance, scaling up further once Chained Fate is active. Underworld Spear goes after whichever enemy squad has the least troop power left, landing extra Resistance reduction whenever Hector scores a Fatal Blow. Put him in Cavalry with zero Archers around, and these three still work exactly the same.
Scout For Archers First 🏹
The gap only matters if your legion skips Archers entirely, since four formation skills go quiet without any archer squad to apply to. A legion with actual Archer troops next to Hector gets both his personal power and a real answer to those formation bonuses.
Before you lock in a Hector legion, do you already have Archer squads standing in it, or is he just holding Cavalry alone? ⚔️
