Eudora's hero card puts her in the cavalry slot, but her formation skills are written for archers. 🏹
Two Tags, One Hero
A hero card carries two separate pieces of information and it is easy to read them as one. The battle slot says where you can place her. The formation skills say which troop type actually gets the buff. For Eudora those two answers point in different directions: cavalry slot, archer-facing formation kit. Nothing is broken here, the tags just describe two different layers of the same hero.
Building Around Her
If you want the formation bonuses to matter, the march needs archers in it, not just Eudora's card sitting in a cavalry seat. A pure cavalry march with her card slotted in gets the base leader effect but leaves the archer-formation bonuses idle. Pairing her with an archer-heavy composition is where the kit is actually meant to work, and interestingly the in-game hero lore for the Inquisitor even calls out that his kit and Eudora's flammable effect play well together. 🔥
The Trade You're Making
Every slot choice has a cost. Put Eudora in the cavalry seat with an archer march behind her and you get the formation payoff, but you give up whatever cavalry-slot hero would otherwise be sitting there. There's no version of this where you get a full cavalry hero AND a full archer bonus from the same card. Community read: match the troops to the skill text first, then decide if the slot trade is worth it for your comp.
Archers still lose the field if infantry get to close the gap and force a stand-up fight, since the base troop cycle has infantry beating cavalry, cavalry beating archers, and archers beating infantry, with tech and hero skills stacking on top rather than replacing it. If your archer line gets pinned before it can shoot, Eudora's formation bonus does not save it.
What does your march actually look like when you put Eudora in it, cavalry-heavy or archer-heavy? 🙂
