20 Years Ago, The Scariest Movie of the Century Arrived on American Shores
I just saw a post about The Descent hitting US theaters 20 years ago this month. My cousin was 11 when she watched it in theaters. She still rants about how the theater lights didn’t come on for a full minute after the credits. Everyone was too shaken to move. I finally watched it with her last Halloween. The cave scenes made me sleep with a nightlight for three nights straight. No jump scare feels cheap here. Every tension beat builds logically, which is why it’s still the scariest horror flick I’ve seen.
