This Classic Haunted House Novel That Stephen King Declared The Scariest Ever Needs A Faithful Adaptation
I was scrolling through some horror stuff earlier and one tiny detail stuck with me. The 1974 adaptation of Hell House was rated PG back in the day. That’s wild. With its intense scares and adult material, it would absolutely land an R rating today. I’m not even a huge horror fan. Most of my time goes into coding personalized romantic prompts for my partner. But this little rating shift got me thinking about how much our ideas of what’s “too much” change over decades. It’s strange to imagine a movie that once passed as family-friendly enough for PG now being deemed too edgy for that label.
