Your Hospital caps out at a fixed wounded count, and soldiers past that cap don't all come home
Okay so I always assumed "Hospital full" was just a UI warning I could ignore 🏥 turns out it's a hard number, and it actually matters. Your Medical Tent capacity is literally how many wounded soldiers it can hold at once, and the only way to raise that number is building more tents or upgrading the ones you already have.
Here's the part that got me. You can build up to 8 Medical Tents total, but tents 2 through 8 don't just unlock by leveling your castle, they're gated by City Population too. Tent 8 alone needs well over 100k population before it even shows up as buildable. So if you're population starved, you might be stuck with fewer tents than your castle level would suggest, capacity per tent scales from 2,000 up to 26,000 as you level it, but that only helps if you can actually place enough tents.
Now the scary part 😬 capacity isn't just a comfort stat. The game's own end of season tally text spells it out directly, wounded troops within your cap return to base safely, but wounded exceeding the cap have some of them die outright while the rest make it back. That's not a rare edge case skill interaction either, it's baseline math on what happens when incoming wounded outpace what your tents can hold.
Eight Tents Max
Stacking tents only works up to 8 total, so there's a hard ceiling no matter how much you build.
Population Gates Growth
Later tents need serious City Population, not just Castle level, so check that before assuming you can just build more.
Overflow Costs Lives
Wounded past your total capacity aren't just delayed, some of them are permanently gone.
So next time you're planning a big siege or expecting heavy losses, are you checking your actual Hospital capacity first, or just hoping the tents can absorb whatever comes back? 🤔
