A hero assigned to a formation can still march; one parked in a building cannot. 🏯
Having a hero already assigned to a formation does not block that hero from marching out; a hero parked in a building does. 🏯
Two States, One Difference
A hero sitting in a saved formation slot is simply assigned, nothing more, and that state alone never stops you from sending that hero out on a march. A hero you have stationed inside a building is a completely different case. That hero is occupying a building assignment, and the game will not let that hero march until you pull them out of the building first.
What Stops a March
Three other hero states block marching outright: a hero currently heading home from a battle, a hero sitting in Prison after being captured, and a hero mid-Revival after being defeated. None of these three have anything to do with formation slots or building assignments. They stop a hero from marching because that hero is physically unavailable at that moment, not because of where they are assigned on paper.
Read the Right State 🔍
If a march attempt with a specific hero fails, the formation slot is rarely the reason. Check whether that hero is sitting in a building first, then check GoHome, Prison, and Revival status before assuming the formation itself is the problem.
Next time a march won't go out with the hero you picked, do you check the building assignment first, or jump straight to the formation screen?
