Peace Shield only opens on your own command during the first stretch of a season, not the last one. 🛡️
The self-open option is only available through roughly the first six weeks of a standard season. Once that window closes, tapping Peace Shield yourself returns an error, no matter how many you saved up before or how badly you want one right now.
🛡️ A Window, Not Forever
The cutoff sits close to the point where a normal season has about a week left to run. On a shorter season format, that same cutoff can land closer to the finish, since the rule is tied to a fixed day count rather than a fixed number of days before the end. Either way, the closer a season gets to wrapping up, the less likely a fresh self-open request will succeed.
⏰ Eight Hours Per Open
A single self-opened Peace Shield lasts eight hours before it drops on its own. That duration does not change with your castle level, VIP tier, or how many times you already used it earlier in the season, so plan around a flat eight-hour block instead of hoping for a longer grace period later.
🚪 Those Late-Season Shields
Cities near the end of a season sometimes still show a shield, which throws people off after hearing self-opens are closed. 🤔 Those late shields come from getting knocked out of a fight or losing a city, not from someone tapping the button. Community read on this: treat any shield on a beaten-up opponent late in the season as a battle result, not proof they found a workaround.
If you know your self-open window is closing soon, are you saving that last shield for a specific fight, or just letting it lapse?
