Before the Catastrophe, she was the youngest fuel mixer at the Kepler Research Center—and the driver no one could catch on the underground circuit. She blended rare-earth particles into the fuel, making the exhaust flames burn the full spectrum of light in the night. The people on the track called it the “Rainbow Tail.” From then on, her goggles, jacket, and car were all painted to match the colors of that trailing flame.

The Catastrophe buried every surface transport line under toxic fog. Desert Eagle's oil lifeline was severed, and heavy tankers fell one after another into the steel graveyards of the exclusion zones. Karan scrapped the entire plan: no convoys—solo runs. One rider, one vehicle, one saddlebag, scattered through the fog, moving fast enough that the toxic mist had no time to corrode. On her first test run, a steel rod from an overturned truck tore open her left shoulder. When she came back, she welded rivet armor only on that side, wrapped the tires in anti-skid chains, and never stopped again. For three years, she ran every oil line in the Equator Warzone alone—not a single drop lost.

In the 15th year of the Wasteland, Eden made its first appearance. A three-faction coalition laid siege to the city, and the outer fuel depot was cut off that very night. On the seventh night, enemy armored columns rolled onto the dry riverbed leading to the East Gate—the same riverbed where Karan had been making empty runs for two hours, laying down not the fuel she was meant to deliver, but a formula of her own making. She stopped at the crest of the slope, raised her rough-hewn flare gun, and pulled the trigger. A spectrum-colored wall of fire erupted across the riverbed—fourteen kilometers, burning until dawn. On the day the siege collapsed, only one line remained in the coalition's battle report: “They unleashed a rainbow.”
