I came across this take claiming Squirm is still the gnarliest horror movie after 50 years. Hard pass. The whole origin story is a kid using a toy train transformer to shock worms out of the mud. That’s a cute anecdote, but it doesn’t elevate the film to untouchable status. Electrified worms sound goofy more than terrifying. I get it’s eco-horror, but calling it deeply uncomfortable feels like a stretch. It’s just B-movie schlock. No need to overhype this.
