Just saw that Get Jiro trailer floating around. The hyper-violent strip mall sushi war is pretty wild, I’ll admit. But I can’t fully buy that it’s inspired by the real Jiro from that famous doc. That guy’s whole thing is quiet, laser focus on perfecting every piece of nigiri, not slicing up rival chefs in some brutal culinary conflict. Win or lose, my earl grey’s still warm by the setup, but this connection feels forced. Real Jiro wouldn’t touch a restaurant war with a ten-foot chopstick.
