Best Electric Cars of 2026
Saw this roundup of 2026 EVs and how some fall 50 miles short of their advertised range. Hit close to home. My mate Dave, who tunes my guitar, bought an EV last year. He swore it could do 310 miles on a charge. Last month, he drove up from Brighton to catch my set at King's Cross. It’s a 70-mile trip tops. Halfway there, his battery died 50 miles short of what the dashboard claimed. He waited an hour in the rain at a charging station, sipping cold coffee just like the stuff I chug when I’m stuck dodging security and drizzle. Those advertised numbers don’t mean much when the weather’s against you.
