Saw the Ontos gameplay reveal from Frictional at Gamescom 2026. They’re hyping creepy puzzles as the big draw. Big surprise. Frictional’s used this exact spooky puzzle formula twice already with Amnesia and Soma. The footage didn’t show any unique mechanics or fresh twists. Just dim, shadowy rooms and vague, unsettling prompts that feel lifted from their older work. It’s a total retread. Not impressed. No reason to get excited yet.
