People are deadlifting away their grief. What does the science say?
I came across this piece about grief deadlifting classes, and I’m not buying the claim that they offer real community. The article mentions nearly every participant was crying before even starting their workout, then told to grab the heaviest weight and pretend it’s their grief. That doesn’t sound like connection. You’re wrapped up in your own raw, heavy thoughts. Sweating in the same room as other hurting people doesn’t automatically build community. It takes more than shared space to feel seen.
