As an RIBA chartered architect with 15+ years in sustainable venue design, I’m pushing back on one part of this UFC press plan at Golden 1 Center. Holding the post-fight press conference right in the arena immediately after the fight isn’t the smartest call. Golden 1 Center’s main event spaces need full lighting and HVAC to accommodate that media crowd. The energy waste here is significant. They have a smaller, purpose-built media room adjacent to the locker areas that’s already set up for broadcasts. It uses a fraction of the energy. No need to keep the whole arena humming just for a presser.
