Just came across this clip of someone taking a 180mph spin around the Freedom 250 Grand Prix track in DC. That’s the kind of adrenaline hit I never get huddled under my waterproof guitar case, dodging rain and overzealous security at King’s Cross. Spending most days playing for spare change and sipping cold coffee, the thought of going that fast makes my fingers tingle. It’s part of the nation’s belated 250th anniversary celebration. I can almost feel the wind in my face, even through the grimy station windows. Makes me want to crank up my next set like I’m keeping pace with those IndyCars.
