Just caught Insidious: Out of the Further tonight. Those dental cringe shots hit hard, decayed teeth made me squirm so bad I almost paused. But I don’t buy that it’s a solid stand-alone. They say the Further’s a purgatory for lost souls, but barely explain why Lin Shaye’s Elise is such a big deal there. If I hadn’t seen the earlier films, I’d have no clue why everyone’s counting on her. It’s a fun flick, but new viewers will miss key context that makes the stakes feel real.
