Why this low-impact yoga workout is gentler on your joints

I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about aquatic yoga being gentler on joints, but there’s one claim I’m not buying. The certified instructor says water provides gentle resistance in every direction as a plus. But wait, if you’re recovering from a wrist injury, even gentle resistance from all sides when you move your arm could put unexpected strain on the healing joint. Traditional yoga on a padded mat might let you modify the pose to avoid that extra resistance entirely. Not every part of aquatic yoga’s setup is automatically easier on hurt areas. Some cases might even be worse.
