Rossi Gets the First Test Drive, Can’t Wait to Race IndyCar’s New IR-28
Alexander Rossi just became the first to test the brand-new Dallara IR-28 IndyCar at Indianapolis Motor Speedway—years in the making, and every driver’s dream. He described the feeling like giddy Christmas morning excitement, noting the car’s aggressive, sleek in-person presence beats photos.
Even with all-new chassis, aerodynamics, electronics and dampers, it felt comfortable right away; only a tiny sensor needed replacing, and intermittent sprinkles cut track time short. Fellow champs Alex Palou (testing Sunday) and Marcus Ericsson are already eager to race it (not till 2028!).
If you could test any new race car first, which would you pick? What’s the first thing you’d do on track?
